How to Securely Package Your Watch

Step-by-step packing guidelines

Proper packaging is essential to protect your watch during transit. Follow these steps to ensure your shipment meets IFS packaging requirements and remains eligible for coverage under IFS Terms and Conditions.

What you will need

Two new boxes for double boxing
Strong packing tape
Protective bubble wrap or paper to prevent movement
Two adhesive shipping labels

IFS requires all shipments to be double boxed to ensure proper protection in transit. The product box does not count as one of the required boxes, and padded paks are not considered sufficient outer packaging.

Packaging supplies
1

Secure the watch

Place the watch inside its original box when available. Wrap the watch and box completely with protective bubble wrap to prevent any movement.

2

Prepare the inner box

Line the bottom and sides of a sturdy shipping box with bubble wrap. Place the wrapped watch inside and fill any empty space so the item cannot shift.

3

Double box for protection

Use two new boxes. Place the secured inner box inside a second outer box and add cushioning to prevent movement. Double boxing is required under IFS Terms and Conditions.

Seal and label correctly

Print two shipping labels on adhesive paper. Place one label on the outer box and one on the inner box. Seal all seams securely with strong packing tape.

Additional IFS Shipping Requirements

Residential shipping

Make sure there is no signature release on file with the recipient’s address. To avoid accessorial fees, IFS recommends shipping to a commercial address when possible. If a residential delivery is required, Hold for Pickup and Adult Signature options are available for a higher level of security.

International shipping

Always declare the full commercial or replacement value of the shipment. Select commercial for a sale and replacement for a return or repair to prevent issues with destination customs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Insurance

IFS covers the transit of jewelry-related items through approved third-party carriers. A Certificate of Insurance listing covered commodities is issued upon application approval. IFS maintains transit coverage through its insurance carrier and is not an insurance company or agency.

  • Ground / Home Delivery: up to $10,000
  • 2nd Day / 2nd Day AM: up to $25,000
  • Priority / Standard Overnight: up to $150,000 per single item
Multiple-item shipments cannot exceed $75,000 and must be split.

Maximum to the same address per day is $250,000. International limits vary by destination country.

Shipments must be DOUBLE-BOXED using TWO NEW BOXES. The product box does not count, and padded paks do not qualify.
Failure to double box violates the IFS Terms and Conditions and may disqualify shipments if lost or damaged.

Contact IFS as soon as possible via Customer Service (1-800-219-8923), online chat, or email. Issues must be reported within 15 days of the ship date.

Create a label

International shipping requires an Employer Identification Number (EIN).

  1. Go to “My Profile.”
  2. Enter the EIN in “Tax ID Number.”
  3. Click “Save.”

Available countries and coverage limits appear on the “Create a Label” page. Countries showing ($0) coverage are restricted.EIN information: https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/employer-id-numbers

The consignee is responsible for duties and taxes unless otherwise stated on the customs declaration. If unpaid, responsibility defaults to the shipper. For Return-to-Sender requests after entry into the destination country, customs may require payment before release.

FedEx Hold at Location allows pickup at select FedEx locations. Packages are held for five business days before return.

To create a HAL label:

  1. Enter recipient information.
  2. Select “HAL.”
  3. Choose an insured FedEx location before completing the label.

Any shipment with a declared value of $1,000 or more AND with a destination zip code of 90013 / 90014 is automatically redirected to IFS (Pasadena). IFS will hand deliver the shipments with their Armed Personnel to your intended recipient.

A Direct Signature requires someone at the delivery address to sign.
An Adult Signature requires someone over 21 to sign and does not allow address changes or reroutes. If a Signature Release is on file, Direct Signature may allow delivery without a signature, while Adult Signature will not. An adult signature is generally more secure for residential shipments.

Schedule a pickup on the “Create a Label” page by selecting “Schedule a Pickup?” or from “Ship History” by clicking “PICK UP.”

Please email [email protected] about any issues with your invoice.

The FedEx Money-Back Guarantee does not apply to IFS due to discounted rates extended to Customers. To qualify, ship directly with FedEx at standard rates.
